Job Summary

The LCA Parent Engagement Coordinator/Case Manager is a full-time position for Latino/a Immigrant families. The LCA Parent Engagement Coordinator supports ongoing communication to family members to remove barriers and to promote school engagement. This position requires an attitude of wanting to retain families in the schools, and to impact parent programs and workshop that encourage parent involvement. This position supports outreach outside of the district to prospective families to help grow enrollment and support students’ success.

The Parent Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs and activities designed to increase parent involvement in the educational process. This role aims to foster positive relationships between parents, schools, and the community to enhance student success.

The logistics of this position involve activities related to District and school-sponsored events and supports home visits and site visits to District families. The LCA Parent Engagement Coordinator manages and leads the Parent Advisory Council. The Parent Engagement Coordinator requires someone well-versed in Social Justice, Equity, and Inclusion.

Primary Job Duties

Create professional development for families.

Design and execute parent engagement programs and activities that support the educational development and success of students.

Coordinate workshops, meetings, and events that provide parents with resources and information on how to support their children's education.

Assist parents in navigating the school system, understanding policies, and accessing services and resources.

Advocate for parent involvement in school decision-making processes and encourage active participation in school committees and councils.

Provide training and professional development opportunities for parents to enhance their skills in family engagement and communication.

Organize and lead parent education sessions on topics such as child development, academic support, and effective parenting strategies

Track and evaluate the effectiveness of parent engagement programs and activities, using feedback to make improvements.

Maintain records of parent participation and engagement efforts, preparing reports as needed.

Serve as the primary contact for parents, addressing inquiries, concerns, and providing guidance on educational matters.

Collaborate with community organizations and partners to provide additional resources and support for parents and families.

Foster strong relationships between parents, teachers, and school administrators to create a supportive and inclusive school community

Promote and communicate Language Access Services within the district. Provide training on language access services (i.e., school software, admin, and teachers)

Strategize to develop and execute plans to help educate and support parents to successfully engage with school district and parents to ensure students success

Facilitate Parent Leadership Meetings at LCA offices or schools.

Attend School Meeting or outreach events.

Build relationships on behalf of the district with community groups, faith-based partners, non-profit family and community agencies, and other potential partners; share school information through community presentations and by inviting community groups to school events or attending events of outside agencies.

Complete required reporting CRM daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Attend scheduled meetings with supervisors

Represent LCA at school district, city, county, and state meetings in professional manner

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience in education, community outreach, or a related area, with a focus on parent engagement or family services.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities.

Organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Behavioral health and case management background a plus

Moderate or advances technical proficiency; experience with interactive platforms like Zoom, Google platforms such as Google Classroom, Gmail, Case Management software is a plus

Must pass a criminal background check

Passion for and excellent with parents and students

Positive and encouraging attitude

Believe in the power of mentorship

Bilingual skills (Spanish and English)

Must be available Monday through Friday (some evenings or weekends)

Knowledge of Curriculum Development and Alignment

Writing Lesson Plans catered to meet the diverse needs of students and parents we serve

Teaching in a classroom setting

Familiarity with Educational Software (i.e., Canva, google classroom, Kahoot!) and Computers

Education and Experience

• BA/BS in social services or behavioral health preferred

• At least 2 years’ experience working in a school or district setting with English Learners or within an agency that supports the immigrant/ English as a Second Language experience or social services

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly orally and in-writing with parents and families about school-related matters directly or from accessing language services.

• Fluent in Spanish
